Issuing of international driving license
Based on:
Road Traffic Act - art. 163, para 1
Ordinance Nr. I-57/01.10.2002 on conditions and order of driving license issue, reports on drivers and their discipline – art. 18
Competent authority:
Traffic Police units in the Sofia Metropolitan Directorate of Interior & Regional Directorates of Interior
Deadline for issuing: 30 days
Validity of document/individual administrative act: 2 years
Control authority for the authority providing the service:
Director of the Regional Directorate of MoI where the competent Traffic Police Unit is situated.
Authority of appeal of individual administrative act: Director of the Regional Directorate of MoI where the competent Traffic Police Unit is situated.
Restrictions and conditions:
The Traffic Police unit as per permanent address of the driver issues the international driving license. The driver has to show a valid Bulgarian national driving license. The international driving license is not valid on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria.
I. Submitting an application
There is a template for the application. It is submitted at the Traffic Police unit as per permanent address of the applicant.
Documents accompanying the application:
1. valid Bulgarian national driving license
2. photo in passport format
3. document for paid state fee

II. Receiving of the driving license
The applicant receives the international driving license within the specified deadline.

Payment
The fixed fee of the service is 5 BGN.
Ways of payment:
1. At a desk of the administrative authority, by a bank card.
2. By a bank transfer
