Series of profiled trainings were conducted for police officers

240 police officers from the Metropolitan Directorate of Interior and the Regional Directorates of Interior covered special training for prevention and detection of radicalization, violent extremism and hate speech. It is part of the activities of a project aiming to improve the dialogue between the police and the Roma communities, funded by the Norway Grants Home Affairs Programme 2014 - 2021. The training was conducted in the form of 6 seminars in the period October the 2nd - November the 24th, 2023.

The project is divided into several activities that aim to improve coordination between the Police and local Roma organizations and to create better conditions for multi-ethnic dialogue, and better understanding of Roma cultural values.

A Manual for Trainers was elaborated under the project. Experts from General Directorate National Police and the Psychology Institute participated in the process, assisted by the foreign representatives of the Ministry of Interior. In this regard, best practices from other EU Member States such as Austria, Spain and Italy were included.

After that, 2 train-the-trainers seminars were held, in which 80 trainers from General Directorate National Police, the Metropolitan Directorate of Interior and the Regional Directorates of Interior were trained in order to disseminate the new knowledge to their colleagues.

The activities under the Project are ongoing and will be finalized in April 2024.
