The Institute of psychology-MoI, establishеd in 1971, is a leading body in the field of applied psychology in Bulgaria. It is the only national establishment engaged in practicing and developing the science of psychology. The Institute assists all central and regional structures of the Ministry of Interior, providing expertise in the activities and policies involved in the selection, training, development and management of human resources, as well as direct support in the functional activities of the Ministry, such as crime investigations and matters of national security.
The Institute has proved its credentials, by demonstrating substantial growth and progress made in its expertise. The priority of its employees, however, remains the same: the high standard of their work, guaranteeing the prestige of the Institute at its 40th anniversary.
The Institute is traditionally known for its empirical and scientific approaches used in the advances of professional psychodiagnostic, psychodiagnostic methods development, and professional stress psychological prophylaxis. Through the years, we have established unique practices in the field of criminal psychology, specializing in psychological profiling of unidentified subjects, prevention and neutralizing of terrorist threats and hostage situations. The polygraph examinations and expertise offered by the Institute are not only trusted and essential source of information for the police investigators, but a key factor in the overall work of the judicial system in Bulgaria.
Our priorities today focus on psychological consulting and care for police officers and major institutions and organizations in the country. This is why we have created new models for organizational-diagnostics practices and organizational development interventions. The aim is reaching optimal management and team effectiveness and motivational in the work of the functional departments of the Ministry of Interior.
In order to reach these goals, the IP-MoI has been actively involved in attaining funding through different national and regional programs, investing in its professional development and growth. In 2010 alone, the Institute had implemented numerous projects directly linked to the advance of key social and managerial competences of experts working in the Institute.
