Fourth Ministerial Conference of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region Concludes in Sofia

The Fourth Ministerial Conference of the Member States of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region was held in Sofia on 29–30 June. Bulgaria and Bavaria serve as co-coordinators of the Strategy’s Priority Area "Security".

The conference brought together ministers of the interior, heads of delegations, representatives of the European Commission, the Danube Strategy Point, Europol, SELEC and other international partners to discuss current security challenges in the Danube Region.

The discussions focused on two main topics: countering terrorism, violent extremism and radicalization, and strengthening cybersecurity and the fight against cybercrime. Participants underlined the need for closer international cooperation, enhanced information exchange and stronger technological and institutional capacities to address evolving security threats.

The participating states unanimously adopted the Conference Conclusions, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening security, resilience and cooperation across the Danube Region.

The conference also marked the 15th anniversary of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, highlighting the long-standing cooperation between Bulgaria and Bavaria in coordinating the Strategy's security priority.
