“The fight against corruption and the restoration of justice are at the core of Progressive Bulgaria’s vision. The Ministry of Interior will play a key role in fulfilling this commitment. We understand the expectations of Bulgarian citizens, consider them fully justified, and are strongly motivated to meet them,” Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev said upon taking office.
He stressed that new challenges lie ahead and that every minute matters, as “no one will grant us a grace period.” Demerdzhiev also assured Ministry of Interior employees of his full support when they act in accordance with the law.
Caretaker Minister Emil Dechev reviewed the ministry’s work over the past 79 days, noting that its tireless efforts, uncompromising approach, and transparency helped ensure fair elections.
“We gave our best and achieved a strong result. In a very short time, the Ministry’s leadership showed both employees and the public that we want the police to work without double standards,” Dechev said, wishing success to Minister Demerdzhiev and his team.
