Largest registration facility for temporary protection became operational in administrative service centre of the Ministry of Interior

On 30 March 2022, a new facility for the issuance of registration cards for temporary protection of refugees from Ukraine became operational. Its location is on 91, Maria Luisa Blvd. Staff from the Bulgarian Identity Documents Directorate, the Metropolitan Directorate of Interior and the Migration Directorate will register the Ukrainian nationals at 14 work stations from 8.30 until 17.30.

Up to 30 March facilities for temporary protection had opened at Ruse and Durankulak BCPs, at the territorial directorates of the MoI in Varna, Ruse, Vidin, Haskovo, Blagoevgrad, Vratsa, Kuystendil, Veliko Tarnovo, Sliven, Stara Zagora, Pernik, Silistra, Razgrad, Dobrich, Montana, Smolyan, Plovdiv, Gabrovo, Shumen, Targovishte.

The facilities for temporary protection are also operational at the central police stations in Balchik, Kavarna, Zlatni Pyasaci, Nesebar, Pomorie, Sozopol, Primorsko, Kazanlak, Bansko, Razlog, Gotse Delchev, Sandanski, Albena, Shabla, Dupnitsa, Petrich, Tsarevo, General Toshevo, Tervel, G. Oryahovitsa, Chirpan, Radnevo, Berkovitsa, Byala, Vetovo, Slivo Pole, Dve Mogili, Second Police Station – Plovdiv, Fifth Police Station – Plovdiv, First Police Station – Varna, Aksakovo, Asenovgrad.

MoI staff are also deployed at the registration facilities set up at Sofia Central Railway Station, the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna, at the premises of the Sea Station in Burgas.

As of 1 April approximately 4000 Ukrainian nationals were granted temporary protection in Sofia.
