Minister of Interior in the interim government
Yordan Bakalow, Associate Professor, Doctor
Born on September 1st, 1960, in the town of Asenovgrad.
Has graduated from the Industrial Chemistry Technical School in the town of Dimitrovgrad, at the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy in Sofia (1987) and in Foreign Trade at the Technical University in the city of Plovdiv (1998). In 2009 received PhD degree in “Organization and management outside the material production sphere” – National Security.
Since 2012 he has been an Associate Professor and a lecturer in National Security at the New Bulgarian University, Sofia, and at the College of Economics and Administration in the city of Plovdiv.
Elected MP in the 38th, 39th, 40th, and 41st National Assembly.
Chief of the National Security Committee and member of the Budget and Finance Committee in the 38th National Assembly. In the 39th National Assembly - member of the Internal Security and Public Order Committee. In the 40th National Assembly - Chief of the Citizens’ Complaints and Petitions Committee, member of the Internal Security and Public Order Committee and Chair of the United Democratic Forces parliamentary group. In the 41st National Assembly - Chief of the Human Rights, Religious Denominations and Petitions Committee and member of the Internal Security and Public Order Committee.
Has a good command of Russian and English.
August 6th, 2014 - appointed Minister of Interior in the interim government of Prof. Georgi Bliznashki.
