Minister of Interior in the Caretaker Government
Plamen Uzunov was born in 1972 in Plovdiv.
He graduated the Academy of the Ministry of Interior with a Bachelor’s degree in Crime Counteraction and Protection of Public Order, and afterwards got Master’s degree in law from Paisiy Hilendarski University of Plovdiv.
He attended post-graduate specialisation courses in the International Law Enforcement Academy in Budapest and in the Academy of the Ministry of Interior.
He worked for Plovdiv Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior from 1993 till 2015. He left the Ministry of Interior at his own will in 2015. His last position was Director of Plovdiv Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, having the rank of Senior Commissioner.
Since 2015 he has been a lecturer on the subjects of Forensics and Operational and Search Activities in the Plovdiv University of Security and Economy.
He is a member of the International Police Association.
By a decree of the President Rumen Radev as of January 27th, 2017 he was appointed Minister of Interior in the Caretaker Government of the Republic of Bulgaria.
