Minister of Interior
Deputy Prime Minister for Coalition Policy and Public Administration and Minister of Interior of the Republic of Bulgaria
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Rumiana Bachvarova earned her degree in Sociology from St. Kliment Ohridski - Sofia University. She gained additional training in the United States on the political system and on election campaigning, as well as on political campaigning and public administration policy with the Conservative Party of Great Britain.
She served as head of Program Analysis of the Bulgarian National Radio between 1985 and 1995. She was subsequently director of research at Market Test Sociological Agency from 1995 to 2001. She later became CEO of Market Links Sociological Agency, serving as such between 2001 and 2009.
From 2009 to 2013 she was Chief of the Political Cabinet of the Prime Minister, as well as Secretary of the Development Council with the Council of Ministers.
She was sworn in by Parliament on November 7th, 2015 as Deputy Prime Minister for Coalition Policy and Public Administration.
On March 11th 2015 the Parliament approved her nomination as the new Minister of Interior of the Republic of Bulgaria, combining the position with that of Deputy Prime Minister.
