Schengen

National Coordination Mechanism

For the successful accession of Bulgaria to the Schengen area, a national mechanism (Council of Ministers Decree No. 155, dated 17 March 2008, up-dated by Council of Ministers Decree No. 72, dated 5 February 2009) for management, coordination and control of the preparation of the Republic of Bulgaria for the full implementation of the provisions of the Schengen acquis, has been established and is functioning.
In October 2009 with a Council of Ministers Decision (CMD № 811/23.10.2009)  the existing National Coordination Mechanism was updated and improved.
