Modernizing Border Police Equipment at the Turkish Border (2000)
The project aims to develop an integrated operational strategy in the Lubimets border region, adjacent to Turkey, which is one of the most critical areas for cross-border criminality and a major transit route and conduit for illegal immigration. The project will focus on a 46-km stretch of border where the vast majority of illegal activity takes place. The project aims to achieve a significant reduction in border violations through the introduction of modern patrol vehicles, surveillance systems and communications networks into a single integrated operational plan for the region. The project will be the first of a phased strategy to enhance border management at all of Bulgaria's borders.
