Projects

Strengthening the institutional and administrative capacity of the MoI for the prevention and detection of internal corruption (2002)

This project aims to enhance the administrative capacity of the Ministry of the Interior to prevent and counter internal corruption. It focuses on: the adoption and effective implementation of EU standards and best practices; institutional strengthening of the integrated system of the Ministry's structural units for countering internal corruption; the supply of specialised technical equipment and information systems; the development and implementation of a programme for prevention of corrupt behaviour of officers of the Ministry of Interior; the design and introduction of an appropriate system for encouraging anti-corrupt conduct among vulnerable groups of Ministry's officials like police and border police; and the introduction of a training system for promoting a professional culture among officials of the Ministry. Phare assistance is conditional on effective implementation of other elements of the national anti-corruption strategy.
