Chief Commissar Zhivko Hristov Zhivkov
 
Zhivko Zhivkov was born on 26 May 1960 in Sofia. In 1979 he completed his technical secondary education and four years later - in 1983 he graduated from the Vasil Levski Military School of Higher Education in Veliko Tarnovo.

After graduating from the Military School he occupied the positions of commander of platoon and company in different sections of the Ministry of the Interior.   

In 1993 he was admitted to the G.S. Rakovski Military Academy and graduated in 1995.

The same year he was appointed commander of subdivision in the 72345 section of the National Gendarmerie Service.

At the end of 1997 he was appointed chief inspector in the Training Sector of the Sofia Gendarmerie Formation.

In 1999 he was appointed expert in the Higher Institute for Police Officers Training and Scientific Research of the Ministry of the Interior.

By Presidential Decree No. 286/24.07.2000 and Order No. K3905/28.07.2000 of the Minister of the Interior, Zhivko Zhivkov was appointed Director of the National Gendarmerie Service.

By Presidential Decree No. 242/25.06.2002 he was conferred the rank Major-General.

In 2004 he completed a strategic course in the National Security and Defence Faculty of the G.S. Rakovski Military Academy.

Zhivko Zhivkov is married and has two children.
